VP OF SECURITY AT VALLEY VIEW CASINO & HOTEL BOYD LONG AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS HERO AWARD
(Valley Center, CA) – September 24, 2013 – Boyd Long, the former Assistant Chief of the San Diego Police Department and current Vice President of Security at Valley View Casino & Hotel, was presented with a distinguished Hero award on behalf of the Trauma Intervention Program of San Diego. The local chapter of this national organization recognized Boyd at their annual benefit, Heroes on Scene, for going above and beyond, serving the local community by assisting on-call first responders and helping citizens in need.

"I have known and worked alongside Boyd for 25 years, first with the San Diego Police Department and now at Valley View Casino & Hotel," said Joe Navarro, President and CEO of the San Pasqual Casino Development Group, Inc. "Boyd's reputation for care and concern precedes him and I would like to congratulate him on this award as both a colleague and good friend."

"Boyd Long goes beyond the call of duty every day to keep our guests and the local community safe," said Bruce Howard, General Manager of Valley View Casino & Hotel. "He is such a kind and compassionate person, and an inspiration to all of us here at Valley View Casino & Hotel. This recognition could not be more deserved."

At the Heroes on Scene benefit, twelve members of the community received Hero awards after being nominated by San Diego Trauma Intervention Program volunteers that witnessed their exceptional support for first responders. The organization was already familiar with Boyd because of his work, compassion, heroism and dedication to the local community every day.

"I am humbled by this award and would like to thank both the Trauma Intervention Program and Valley View Casino & Hotel for their support," said Boyd. "Congratulations to all of the award recipients that help San Diegans throughout the county overcome the hardships they face."
